The race for the MCM Northern Region Soccer League title has tightened, with Black Rhinos and Harare City separated by just one point as the competition enters its decisive stages.
The two sides have exchanged positions and momentum in recent matchdays, setting up a tense finish to the campaign.
Harare City had initially closed the gap at the top after recording a 1-0 victory over Black Rhinos at Callies, reducing the army side's lead to a single point.
However, the Municipality side failed to capitalise on that advantage, suffering a 2-0 away defeat to Chingwere at Pfupajena Stadium in Chegutu just four days later.
Black Rhinos responded by beating their opponents 2-0, restoring their advantage and opening up a four-point gap over Harare City.
The lead was reduced to three points on Matchday 31 after Black Rhinos suffered defeat to Blanket Mine, while Harare City managed a draw.
By Matchday 33, Harare City had cut the deficit to just one point after Black Rhinos were held to a goalless draw by Chegutu Pirates at Pfupajena Stadium.

Harare City, meanwhile, produced a strong response, securing a 3-1 victory over Ngezi Platinum Under-19 to move within touching distance of the league leaders.
Despite the progress, Harare City coach Try Ncube remains cautious about his team's title prospects, insisting that the Northern Region remains highly competitive.
“It's not yet time to celebrate because the way the Northern Region is tougher, anything could be possible. That one-point gap won't be easy to cover,” said Ncube.
For Black Rhinos, the pressure of remaining at the summit continues to grow, with Chingwere and Oden also among the teams applying pressure on the leaders.
Rhinos coach Weddington Chinyan'anya acknowledged the growing pressure but said his team remains focused on collecting maximum points from their remaining matches.
“The pressure is there. Because, I mean, as we play each and every game, it's becoming tough, you know. We're having some pressure from City, Chingwere and Oden. But that's football. The pressure is there. But the good thing is, I mean, as long as we manage to pick the maximum points, I mean, that's fine,” said Chinyan'anya.
For Harare City captain Manuel Meleka, the immediate objective is clear: reclaim the top spot and maintain the momentum needed to finish the season strongly.
“Of course, we would want to be on top of the log table, and that is our main priority. We deliver what we train for. Sometimes it may not come as it is, but we try by all means to make our coach happy,” said Meleka.
