Zimbabwe’s Senior Women’s Handball Team have qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2026 IHF Nations Trophy Africa Zone VI tournament in Lusaka, Zambia, after winning two of their three group matches.
Zimbabwe opened their campaign with a commanding 63-7 victory over Lesotho before suffering a 37-27 defeat to Mozambique in their second match.
The team bounced back in their third match with a 32-24 victory over Malawi, having taken a 20-11 lead into half-time before maintaining their advantage in the second half.

The results secured Zimbabwe a place in the quarter-finals, where they will face hosts Zambia as the tournament moves into the knockout stage.
Speaking to Zim Now, head coach Tawanda Mapira said the team was pleased to have reached the quarter-finals and would now turn its attention to the challenge posed by Zambia.
Mapira said the players had responded well after the defeat to Mozambique and would need to maintain their focus and discipline as they enter the knockout stage.
Zimbabwe will now face Zambia in the quarter-finals, with a place in the semi-finals at stake.
