The National Youth and Paralympic Games (NYPG) have received a financial boost after the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) secured a five-year sponsorship agreement worth US$1 million from TN Holdings Group.
The partnership, signed in Harare on Tuesday, is the first corporate sponsorship secured by the Commission in its 34-year history.
The sponsorship comes as the National Youth and Paralympic Games return after a six-year hiatus. This year's edition will be held in Marondera from August 12 to 26 and is expected to provide a platform for the country's young and para-athletes to showcase their talent.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, TN Holdings Group Chief Operations Officer Godknows Mudzingwa said the company's investment goes beyond supporting sporting competitions.

"Investing in sport is about much more than success on the field. It is about developing champions in every aspect of life. This partnership reflects our shared vision of building an inclusive and sustainable future that empowers young people and transforms lives," said Mudzingwa.
Sports and Recreation Commission Director General Allen Mavunga described the sponsorship as a milestone for grassroots sport, saying it would open doors for aspiring athletes across the country.
"The National Youth Games changed the trajectory of my life. They gave me the opportunity to represent Zimbabwe and eventually earn a basketball scholarship in the United States. What TN Holdings is doing today will create opportunities for children across Zimbabwe. This is not just another sponsorship; it is the beginning of something much bigger," said Mavunga.
Mavunga noted that the National Youth Games have consistently produced some of Zimbabwe's finest athletes, highlighting the importance of sustained investment in youth development programmes.
Over the years, the Games have nurtured several prominent sports personalities, including former Gems captain Felisitus Kwangwa, former Warriors players Onismor Bhasera and Ariel Sibanda, Zimbabwe basketball captain Vitalis Chikoko, United States-based athletes Rachel Makoni and Alexandra Maseko, as well as Olympians Ngonidzashe Makusha and Gabriel Mvumvure.
