A 35-year-old former security guard from Epworth, Luckmore Tamirepi, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing charges of unlawful entry in connection with the theft of electronic equipment from his former workplace.
The complainant is Catholic Relief Services, where Tamirepi was previously employed as a security guard through Safeguard Security.
The State alleges that in November 2025, on a date unknown to the prosecutor, Tamirepi connived with his colleague Tawanda Sadowera, who is currently on remand, to steal from the premises they were guarding.
Prosecutors told the court that the pair used a duplicate key to gain entry into the finance office and stole five Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 Plus 5G tablets, nine Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 Plus 128GB tablets, 11 Samsung A35 5G smartphones, and three HP EliteBook laptops.
The theft was discovered on November 10, 2025, prompting Catholic Relief Services to report the matter to ZRP Harare Central. The case was subsequently referred to CID Stores and Business Harare for investigation.

The matter came to light on January 20, 2026, when detectives received information that one Kudakwashe Mhaka was in possession of a Samsung Tab A9 Plus suspected to be stolen. Mhaka was picked up and interviewed and revealed that he had purchased the device from a cellphone dealer, Blessed Luciano, at Ximex Mall in Harare.
Luciano was subsequently interviewed and admitted to selling the Samsung Tab A9 Plus to Mhaka. Further investigations revealed that Luciano had booked four Samsung Tab A9 tablets and five Samsung A35 smartphones, which matched the stolen items.
Luciano implicated Tatenda Sadowera as the individual who supplied him with the devices. Sadowera was arrested and in turn implicated Tamirepi as his accomplice.
Detectives later arrested Tamirepi, who allegedly admitted to stealing the property together with Sadowera.
The total value of the stolen items is US$11,763.97, with property worth US$1,364 recovered through Sadowera.
Tamirepi was remanded in custody.
