A 32-year-old Highfield man has been sentenced to an effective 11 months in prison after he stole a laptop bag containing electronics and cash from a motorist who had stopped at Trabablas Interchange.
Delight Robson was convicted of theft by the Mbare Magistrates' Court, which also ordered him to pay US$410 in restitution to the complainant.
The court heard that on June 26, 2026, at about 11pm, Kingsley Ramawo, 32, of Rockside, Stoneridge, Waterfalls, had parked his Nissan NV200 while travelling towards Chitungwiza.
As Ramawo stepped out of the vehicle, Robson allegedly opened the passenger door, grabbed a laptop bag and fled into the darkness.

The stolen bag contained a Lenovo T460 laptop, a Samsung Galaxy S22, a Samsung Galaxy A07, a 1TB Transcend external hard drive, an Orimon S38 speaker and US$100 in cash, with the total value of the property estimated at US$970.
Police investigations led to the recovery of the Lenovo laptop and one Samsung cellphone after they had been sold to unsuspecting buyers, who assisted officers in tracing Robson.
Property valued at US$560 was recovered, leaving the complainant with an outstanding loss of US$410.
Robson was sentenced to 18 months in prison. Four months were suspended for five years on condition that he does not commit a similar offence during that period. A further three months were suspended on condition that he pays US$410 in restitution through the Clerk of Court.
He will serve an effective 11-month prison term.
