This year's competition, now in its 61st year, saw a vibrant display of traditional dances, highlighting the country's diverse cultural landscape.
Delta Corporation, the sponsor of the festival, expressed gratitude for the entertaining and well-attended showcase. "Congratulations to Harare for winning the grand prize, we pride ourselves in this competition that has lived for many years," said Delta Corporation marketing director Irimayi Muzorewa. "Our consumers have also been supportive throughout the campaign, and we look forward to another exciting edition next year."
According to the organizers, the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival serves as a crucial platform for grooming and promoting Zimbabwean traditional dance talent. "It provides aspiring dance groups with exposure, training and financial incentives, ultimately contributing to the preservation and development of Zimbabwean culture," they said.
The festival is more than just a competition; it's a celebration of Zimbabwean culture and heritage. As the festival continues to thrive, it remains a testament to the country's rich cultural diversity and its ability to bring people together through the universal language of dance. With its theme "Ngoma Ngairire Shamwari, Tshay'Isigubhu Mngane" (Let the drum sound, friend, hit the beat, mate), the festival has become an integral part of Zimbabwe's cultural calendar, promoting traditional dance and preserving the country's cultural legacy.
