Scottland head coach Norman Mapeza has reiterated his hunger for silverware, declaring that his side wants to win every competition available this season following a dominant 3–1 victory over FC Platinum in the Chibuku Super Cup at Rufaro Stadium yesterday.

The victory secured Mabvirarira a place in the quarter-finals and kept their dreams of a domestic treble firmly alive. In addition to their cup progression, Scottland recently booked a spot in the last 16 of the lucrative Munhumutapa Challenge Cup and currently lead the Premier Soccer League (PSL) table with 53 points  two ahead of second-placed HardRock with eight rounds remaining.

Despite Mapeza resting four core starters  goalkeeper Nelson Chadya, defender Peter Muduhwa, and the Musona brothers, Knowledge and Walter  Scottland dictated terms early.

Namibian international Moses Shidolo opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a scorching long-range strike. Mthokozisi Msebe doubled the advantage in the 30th minute, heading in a precise cross from Emmanuel Ziocha. FC Platinum pulled one back five minutes before halftime through mid-season signee Mason Mushore, whose well-placed low drive beat goalkeeper Talbert Shumba.

Khama Billiat restored Scottland’s two-goal cushion eight minutes into the second half, connecting with a glancing header off a cross from Eswatini left-back Kwakhe Twala.

FC Platinum created several opportunities to get back into the match but failed to convert critical one-on-one situations through Oscar Bhebhe and Namibian forward Isaskar Gurirab, while second-half substitute Abram Mbakondja missed a free header. Scottland late substitute, Brazilian forward Anderson De Campos, almost added a fourth near full-time, but his initial free-kick play was left unconverted.

Speaking after the match, four-time PSL championship winner Mapeza made his title ambitions clear.

“We need to win every competition, even if they bring back the Madison Cup,” Mapeza stressed.

Addressing his decision to squad-rotate ahead of their upcoming CAF Champions League campaign and the domestic title run-in, Mapeza emphasized the need for squad management.

“We just have to manage the situation,” said Mapeza.

Despite the decisive scoreline, Mapeza expressed frustration over the defensive lapse that led to FC Platinum’s sole goal just before the break.

“There were some moments, especially in the first half, where we didn’t do well,” Mapeza noted. “If you look at that situation where we conceded that goal, of course, the players thought it was a foul, but you can’t stop playing. From that situation, we ended up conceding.”

He added that his side must learn from those mistakes ahead of continental competition: “Those things are going to happen when we play in the Caf Champions League. The same situations will happen, so we need to be ready for that.”

Yesterday's win extended Scottland’s unbeaten record against FC Platinum since their promotion to the top flight, having previously recorded one victory and two draws in league play. Mabvirarira now turn their focus to Wednesday’s high-stakes league clash against Dynamos.

“We shift focus to the league game on Wednesday,” Mapeza confirmed.

FC Platinum head coach Moses Mwafulirwa lamented his team's missed opportunities and defensive errors post-match.

“We are obviously very disappointed. We didn’t do well today. We didn’t play well, especially in the first half,” said Mwafulirwa. “If you see the goals which we have conceded, when you are playing a team with quality like Scotland, you don’t have to give them much room.”
