The problem of power outages is expected to ease as the Zimbabwe Power Company on Monday installs and synchronizes Unit 7 at Hwange Power Plant into the national grid.
In a notice, ZPC said, “On Monday the 20th of March 2023, ZPC will begin the process of synchronising the Hwange Expansion Project’s Unit 7 into the national grid.”
The development comes ahead of the Fourth Edition of the International Renewable Energy Conference and Expo from the 21st to the 24th of March 2023 in Victoria Falls at Elephant Hills Hotel.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa is set to deliver a keynote address at the event, which will speak to Government’s policy position, plan of action and roadmap in harnessing alternative energy sources.
With major hydro power sources facing challenges, the use of alternative energy has become imperative as the demand for power continues to increase due to rapid industrialisation taking place in Zimbabwe.
