
A total of 191 officers from the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service in Midlands Province have been promoted to higher ranks in recognition of their dedication and service.
The promotions include 32 officers elevated to commissioned ranks and 159 to non-commissioned ranks. The conferment parade was officiated by the Officer Commanding ZPCS Midlands Province, Commissioner Somemore Gate, on behalf of the ZPCS Commissioner-General, Dr. Moses Cyril Ngawaite Chihobvu.
According to ZPCS, the 32 commissioned officers were promoted by President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, while the 159 non-commissioned officers received their promotions from Dr. Moses Cyril Ngawaite Chihobvu.

In a speech delivered on behalf of the Commissioner-General, the service expressed gratitude to President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa for recognizing the officers’ contribution to national security and rehabilitation efforts.
“The promotion comes with greater responsibility,” the speech stated. “Officers must continue to serve with distinction, integrity, and utmost patriotism. There is no room for indiscipline and laziness within our ranks.”
Dr. Moses Cyril Ngawaite Chihobvu’s message also emphasized leadership, innovation, and mentorship within the ranks, urging newly promoted officers to “become leaders and role models” who motivate their subordinates and find creative solutions to challenges.
He further warned against drug and substance abuse, describing it as a threat to discipline and professional conduct. “Drug and substance abuse brings nothing but stagnation and destruction. As leaders, you are expected to set a positive example and uphold the values of the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service,” he said.
