Katsande Wins Northern Region Coach of the Month

Former Warriors midfielder Willard Katsande has been named the Northern Region Soccer League Coach of the Month for September after an impressive run with FC Oden.

Katsande was recognised for his contribution to FC Oden during September, earning the accolade as part of the MCM-NRSL Monthly Awards.

Since joining the club midway through the season, Katsande has overseen 12 matches, suffering just one defeat while recording two draws.

The former Zimbabwe international dedicated the award to his technical team, players and the club’s management for their support and trust in his vision.

“I’m so happy to be rewarded, but it all goes to my technical team, players, management and the president for the trust and for following what we are trying to build,” Katsande said.

He admitted that taking charge of a team in the middle of a season comes with its own challenges, particularly when trying to understand a new group of players.

“Joining mid-season is never easy at all because you still need to understand your players,” he said.

However, Katsande praised the response of his FC Oden players and the quality he found at the club.

“The players are responding to our philosophy. I was impressed by the quality I found at Oden. Overall, God is good above all,” he added.

The latest accolade adds to Katsande’s growing collection of coaching honours since making the transition from playing into coaching.

The former Warriors captain was also named the Eastern Region Soccer League Coach of the Month for June in August, underlining his promising start to his coaching career.
