Kelsea Tadiwa Tafirenyika, the second wife of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s son Collins, has apologised to First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, saying she never intended to disrespect her or any member of the First Family.
In a letter dated August 26, 2026, Kelsea’s lawyers, Rubaya & Chatambudza Legal Practitioners, conveyed what they described as their client’s “sincere apologies” and clarification over the public fallout surrounding her ongoing legal proceedings.
The lawyers said Kelsea deeply regretted that the public discourse had taken a turn that could be perceived as disrespectful to the First Lady and the First Family.
They stressed that she had never intended to “denigrate or show any measure of disrespect” towards the First Lady, President Mnangagwa or any member of the First Family.
Kelsea, through her lawyers, also made a pointed clarification — she said she never dragged the First Lady’s name into the dispute.
According to the letter, she maintains that the association was created by others and says she is not party to efforts to cause disharmony within the First Family.

The lawyers said Kelsea holds the institution of the First Family “in the highest regard” and is deeply sorry that her name became entangled in a narrative she never sought to create.
Her lawyers also revealed that Kelsea remains open to an amicable resolution and direct, respectful engagement over any issues that may have caused concern.
“She is very sorry that this issue has escalated to such great heights,” the lawyers wrote.
The letter also draws a firm line around Kelsea’s legal defence. Her lawyers said they had simply carried out her instructions and presented the same defence she had given in her warned and cautioned statement before the State charged her with money laundering.
The two-page apology, signed by Admire Rubaya and Everson Chatambudza, ends with the lawyers expressing hope that their letter has clarified both Kelsea’s position and their own.
For Kelsea, the message is clear: an apology has been made, her position has been put on record, and she wants the dispute brought to an amicable close.
