The European Masters Squash Tournament took place in Wroclaw, Poland, from 26th to 30th August at Hasta la Vista, a world-class squash complex featuring 33 courts.

The event attracted 602 entries across age groups ranging from 35 to 80 years old.

Representing Zimbabwe, Karen Webb competed in the Women’s 60–64 age group and delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament.

In the pool stage, Webb won both her matches convincingly, defeating opponents from France and Germany in straight 3–0 victories. In the quarter-finals, she faced a strong Spanish opponent.

The opening game was a nail-biting contest, with Webb edging it 16–14 before securing the next two games more comfortably to book her place in the semi-finals.

In the semi-final, Webb took on the No. 1 seed and eventual champion from Scotland.

Although she lost 3–1, each game was closely contested, highlighting her competitive edge against one of the tournament’s top players.

Webb then faced a Belgian opponent in the 3rd/4th place playoff.

Controlling her nerves with determination, she produced an excellent performance to claim victory and secure the Bronze medal for her age group.

Reflecting on her achievement, Webb described it as “probably my best-ever squash tournament.”

Beyond the results, she also cherished reconnecting with old friends and making new ones, emphasising the value of such opportunities for players.

Webb has her sights set on the next major masters event: the World Masters Tournament, which will take place in Perth in August 2026.

She hopes to remain fit and ready to compete at that prestigious stage.
