School handball continues to gain momentum in Zimbabwe, with the Zimbabwe Handball Federation (ZHF) applauding the growing competitiveness and quality of play displayed at the National Association of Secondary School Heads (NASH) championships held in Bulawayo.
The tournament, which took place from 29 to 30 August at Northlea High School, saw some of the country's top school teams battle for honours, with Rusununguko High School claiming the boys' title while Rujeko High School emerged champions in the girls' category.
ZHF Secretary General Alouis Nyamhanga praised the improvement in school handball, saying the increasing level of competition among learners has made the sport more exciting to watch.
"Handball is now exciting to watch because of the competitiveness we are seeing in schools. The standard of play continues to improve, and this shows that the future of the sport in Zimbabwe is promising," said Nyamhanga.

In the boys' final, Rusununguko High School delivered a strong performance to defeat defending champions Sodbury High School and lift the prestigious NASH trophy.
Rusununguko head coach Tafadzwa Madure told Zim Now that the victory was the result of years of hard work and determination.
"It was a tough competition, but my team managed to emerge victorious. After years of trying, we finally lifted the NASH trophy. This achievement means a lot to the players and the school," said Madure.
Sodbury High School settled for second place after a spirited campaign, while the tournament showcased the growing depth of talent in school handball.
In the girls' category, Rujeko High School secured the championship after overcoming Chemhondoro High School in a thrilling final.
