Women Accountants Set to Shine at ZIFWA Leadership Conference

Preparations are in full swing for the 2025 Zimbabwe Forum for Women in Accounting conference, which will take place on September 18, 2025, at the Golden Conifer in Harare.

Running under the inspiring theme “ElevateHER: Leading with Purpose and Power – Reimagining Leadership, Redefining Impact, and Rising Together,” the event promises to be a major platform for women in accounting, auditing, finance, and tax.

Building on the success of its inaugural 2024 edition, the conference aims to tackle the persistent underrepresentation of women in senior leadership, partnership, and board roles—even as they make up nearly half of entry-level accounting positions. ZIFWA hopes to empower participants to upskill, network, and confidently advance to positions of influence.

Among the prominent attendees is Prem Govender, Vice President of the Pan African Federation of Accountants, who will grace the event as Guest of Honour. Her presence highlights the growing role of regional collaboration in promoting gender equality in the profession.

The conference programme includes keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive breakout sessions covering topics such as sustainability, artificial intelligence, governance, and ESG reporting. Sessions will also focus on preparing women for leadership and board positions, fostering resilience in challenging times, and exploring entrepreneurship within and beyond the accounting field.

Manyara Chigunduru, ZIFWA President, said the conference is more than a professional gathering. “We want to inspire women to lead with integrity, courage, and purpose, while creating pathways for the next generation. ElevateHER is not just about personal success—it’s about advancing the profession and the country collectively,” she said.

Delegates from across Zimbabwe’s professional accounting and finance bodies—including ICAZ, ACCA, CIMA, SAAA, ZITA, CGI, ICPAZ, ICTAZ, and IIA—are expected to attend. The conference is open to accountants, auditors, finance professionals, internal and forensic auditors, entrepreneurs, students, and all allies committed to gender equity in the profession.

Registration is currently open at US$100 per delegate, and organisations, firms, and professional bodies are encouraged to partner in supporting this landmark event, which promises both professional development and visibility.
