Chevrons produced their most competitive performance of the three-match Twenty20 International series but still fell short in every department as India completed a 3-0 clean sweep with a 35-run victory at Harare Sports Club on Sunday.
After struggling throughout the series, Chevrons showed greater fight with both bat and ball, yet lapses in key moments, dropped catches and an inability to build sustained pressure again proved costly against a clinical Indian side.
India posted 192 for five after electing to bat, with teenage opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continuing his impressive tour by blasting 81 off 49 deliveries. His innings, laced with powerful stroke play, laid the foundation for another imposing total despite Zimbabwe managing to keep the visitors below the 200-run mark.
Blessing Muzarabani once again made an early breakthrough by dismissing Abhishek Sharma cheaply, but Zimbabwe struggled to contain Sooryavanshi and Ishan Kishan as the pair dominated the powerplay. Brad Evans emerged as Zimbabwe's most successful bowler with figures of two for 41, while Wessly Madhevere also made valuable contributions with both ball and in the field.
Zimbabwe's fielding featured moments of brilliance, including Evans' outstanding diving catch to dismiss Sooryavanshi and two well-judged catches by Madhevere. However, opportunities were missed at crucial stages as India's middle order added useful runs to push the total close to 200.
Chasing 193, Zimbabwe's hopes suffered an immediate setback when Brian Bennett fell to the first ball of the innings, while captain Sikandar Raza departed for a duck in the following over to leave the hosts under early pressure.

Ryan Burl once again stood out with the bat, anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 54 off 43 balls. He found support from Madhevere, who contributed 28, but Zimbabwe were unable to maintain the required scoring rate against India's disciplined bowling attack.
Dropped catches by India offered Zimbabwe some encouragement, with Curran and Madhevere both receiving reprieves, but the hosts were unable to fully capitalise. Madhevere struck two towering sixes before falling while attempting another big hit, effectively ending Zimbabwe's hopes of mounting a late challenge.
Burl reached his half-century in the closing stages, while Evans added an entertaining 14 that included a six, but Zimbabwe finished on 157 for seven, 35 runs short of the target.
Mayank Yadav led India's bowling attack with figures of three for 29, while Yash Thakur claimed two wickets to ensure Zimbabwe never seriously threatened the chase.
Although Zimbabwe showed marked improvement after heavy defeats in the opening two matches, the series exposed shortcomings with both bat and ball. The top order again failed to provide a solid platform, the bowlers were unable to consistently contain India's aggressive batting, and lapses in execution during crucial phases ultimately left the hosts chasing the game.
