At just 27, Eniviolata Tanyaradzwa Bangamuseve is proving that talent, focus, and determination can carve new paths in the world of sport.
Representing Harare Province in the Nevsun Premier Pool League, Tanyaradzwa is not only making her mark as a rising star in pool but also emerging as a leader in Zimbabwean sport.
Tanyaradzwa’s sporting journey is rich and diverse. She has explored several disciplines, including football, before finding her home in cue sports.
“In pool, there’s less physical energy involved, and focus is improved,” she says, highlighting the mental discipline the sport requires. Her passion and dedication have already paid off — she was part of the Zimbabwe National Pool Team in 2023, a milestone that cemented her national presence.
Earlier this year, Tanyaradzwa took a significant step forward by graduating from a Women in Sport Leadership Program. Reflecting on her experience, she shares, “I learned how to be a good leader and how to plan attractive events.”
This training is already shaping her current projects. “It’s helping me implement pool in schools and also become a better leader in the organization,” she adds, showing her commitment to growing the sport at the grassroots level.
Despite her accomplishments, the journey hasn’t been without challenges. Like many women in sport, she faces barriers in leadership spaces. “There are more men on executive boards than women, and sometimes the women’s voice is not heard,” she says. Her voice, however, is growing stronger with each step she takes.
Tanyaradzwa draws inspiration from fellow athletes, particularly Talent Mandaza of Black Rhinos Queens and South African pool player Marina Jacobs. These role models remind her — and all women in sport — of what’s possible with hard work and perseverance.
As for young girls who want to follow in her footsteps, Tanyaradzwa has a powerful message:
“Train more and stay focused in whatever you do. Only the sky is the limit.”
