A 47-year-old truck driver is facing theft of trust property charges after allegedly diverting a shipment of wheat worth US$15,000 that was destined for Zambia.

Milton Muzanenhamo, of Glen View 1, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with theft of trust property. He was remanded in custody.

The complainant in the matter is Insburg Freight Logistics, represented by Jacqueline Murerwa.

The State alleges that on April 15, the complainant contracted Mac Motors Private Limited to transport 30 tonnes of bulky wheat from Beira Grain Terminal (Private) Limited to Lusaka, Zambia.

On April 20, Muzanenhamo, through his company Mac Motors Private Limited, loaded the 30 tonnes of wheat at Beira Grain Terminal using a truck with registration number AFQ3514, towing a trailer with registration AFQ4997, and set off for Zambia.

The court heard that Muzanenhamo was instructed to offload the wheat at CHC Commodities (Private) Limited, located at Plot Number 123600, Mwembeshi Extension, off Lumumba Road, Chinika Industrial Area, Lusaka.

However, he failed to deliver the consignment and allegedly disposed of the wheat for his personal gain.

When the complainant made enquiries, they were informed that no delivery had been made. A police report was subsequently filed.

As a result, the complainant suffered a loss of US$15,000. Nothing was recovered.
