In a significant leap toward sustainable industrial development, SANY Equipment Zimbabwe has officially launched its groundbreaking lineup of electric construction vehicles, marking a transformative step for the country's mining and construction industries.

The launch event highlighted cornerstone innovations in SANY’s electric portfolio: the SE588 and SE860 Super Trucks, a new series of electric dump trucks, and two high-capacity electric loaders

Taku Mandireva, Key Accounts Manager for SANY Equipment Zimbabwe, introduced the Super Trucks as trailblazers in electric mobility. “The SE588 offers a 440-kilometer range, while the SE860 pushes past 600 kilometers on a single charge,” he explained. “With our fast-charging technology, they can be fully recharged in just 45 minutes.”

Mandireva highlighted the compelling economics behind the shift to electric. “A typical diesel truck costs around $65,000 USD. Our SE588, although priced at approximately $160,000, saves nearly $100,000 annually on fuel alone.

This means the investment is recovered within a single year. Over five years, that adds up to half a million dollars in savings,” he noted.

The company also unveiled its electric dump truck lineup, including the 6x4 Charging 320 and the 8x4 Charging 440 models. Mandireva pointed out that these trucks have dominated the Chinese market, maintaining the top sales position for four consecutive years. Built for durability and superior energy efficiency, they are now entering the Zimbabwean market to serve the growing demands of the mining and construction sectors.

“We stopped developing new diesel trucks in 2021 and went all-in on electric,” Mandireva said. “To date, we've sold more than 30,000 electric trucks globally. Collectively, they've logged over two billion kilometers—enough to circle the Earth 5,000 times.”

Pillar Wing, General Manager of SANY Equipment Zimbabwe, reinforced the strategic and environmental significance of the launch. “Electric vehicles are no longer just machines; they are a tool to reduce operational costs and protect our environment,” he stated. “We brought this product to market because mining alone accounts for at least 60% of Zimbabwe’s GDP. It's vital that we support the sector with sustainable and forward-thinking solutions.”

Founded in 1989, SANY has grown from a domestic Chinese manufacturer into a global leader in heavy equipment, with operations spanning more than 180 countries. The company achieved a major milestone in 2021 when it became the first Chinese construction machinery manufacturer to appear on the Forbes Global 500 list, ranking at number 468. Its footprint in Africa continues to expand rapidly, with revenue in 2024 soaring by 44% compared to the previous year, reaching 5.35 billion RMB.
