Body of pedestrian run over on Samora Machel remains unidentified 6 weeks later

The police is appealing to the public to help with information to identify the victim of fatal road crash that happened on 30th of September 2022.

The male victim aged approximately 30 was hit a vehicle.

“The victim was hit by a motorist while trying to cross the road along Samora Machel Avenue, opposite Telone Building, on 30/09/22. The victim was wearing black jean trousers, a brown T-shirt, and a brown Jacket,” reads the statement.

Anyone with information of a male in that age range who was noted to be missing at the relevant time should contact the nearest police station.

Bodies of people who die without identifying papers on their person are kept in public hospital mortuaries for a certain period and then buried by the state.

Parirenyatwa recently announced that it had 32 bodies some of which had been lying there since March this year.

Some bodies are unclaimed because those left behind have not taken initiative to check with police and mortuaries.
