Former Midlands State University Lecturer, Faith Gudo was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for killing his neighbour with a stone over stray cattle.
It it alleged on April 11, 2024, Gudo approached Dube at his homestead and accused him of letting his cattle stray into his farm. An argument arose resulting in a fist fight.
Gudo picked up a stone and stuck his neighbour on the head .
Due to the force, Dube fell unconscious and was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
His condition got worse and was transfered to Sally Mugabe Hospital where he died on April 20, 2024.
Gudo was convicted of murder after a full trial.
Whole giving judgement, the presiding judge said the murder case was not committed under dirty and aggravating circumstances making the sentence penalty of 15 years applicable.
She said there was no reason to deviate from the prescribed penalty finding no factors justifying a higher sentence or a lower sentence
"It is important for society to maintain respect for human life and the decency to resolve conflicts without resorting to violence.Accordingly,the accused is thereby sentenced to 15 years imprisonment."
