Government distributes sorghum seed to mitigate against El Nino drought

The government has distributed 62.5 metric tonnes of sorghum seed to Makoni district in Manicaland province through the Agricultural and Rural Development Authority.

 “Makoni district recently received 62.5 metric tonnes of sorghum seed from ARDA, as a drought mitigation measure by Government,” announced the Information Ministry on X.

The government has urged farmers on dry land to grow short season crops because of the erratic rains.

Zimbabwe is currently facing a dicey agriculture season as floods and dry spells are likely to affect rain fed agricultural production
