The unending debacle of Harare City Council Human capital director Cainos Chingombe’s employment status seems set to continue as some councilors are set to block his reinstatement a full council meeting scheduled for tomorrow.
“We had a human resources meeting last week and councilors are divided over the return of our former human resources director Chingombe. We voted and seven councilors voted for his return while five voted against return.
The councilor went on to say that the naysayers have a plan to make sure Chingombe does not return.
“He has some corruption case to answer and we don’t want him. We are going to block his return at the full council meeting on Thursday,” said the councilor.
In a related cases of a costly long running labour dispute, City of Harare was recently ordered to reinstate finance director Tendai Kwenda after a seven-year dispute.

Since 2017 when he was suspended over allegations of abuse of office, Chingombe has been fighting for reinstatement and won several judgements at the Labour Court.
Following his suspension in 2017, Chingombe was reinstated in November last year before being fired a few months later. The Harare City Council lost the labour case he brought against it.
Harare City Council’s Acting Corporate Communications Manager Innocent Ruwende referred questions to the city’s mayor, Jacob Mafume who in turn said he was in a meeting.
