A man who allegedly raped his friend after calling her to come to his house has been granted bail.
Mwarianesu Mundozo, 23, appeared before magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts accused of rape.
He was ordered to deposit US$50 as bail and will appear in court on November 21.
The complainant is a 23-year-old woman.
The State, through prosecutor Pardon Dziva, alleges that on July 18, 2023, at around 1400 hours, the complainant was home when she was called by Mundozo to come to his place and she agreed.
She went to Machipisa Shopping Centre and met Mundozo, who took her to his place of residence.
After a while, he took the complainant to his friend’s place where he introduced her to his friends.
On the same day and at around 1900 hours, Mundozo took her back to his place of residence.
When they arrived, he allegedly took her into his bedroom and started kissing and fondling her.
He tried to undress her but she resisted and pushed him away.
The complainant then decided to go and sleep in the room of Mundozo's sister, but his sister denied sleeping with her.
She returned into Mundozo’s bedroom where she found him naked.
He allegedly dragged her on to his bed and started kissing her breasts, caressing her private part and he removed her clothes. After that he had sex with her.
After that they slept together to the following morning.
On July 19, 2023, at around 0800 hours, she woke up and was told by Mundozo that her mother called him looking for her.
She then went back home and when she got there, her mother interviewed her and she told her everything what had transpired.
After 21 days, her mother ran a pregnancy test on her and the results came out positive.
She was taken to their family doctor where they were advised to report the matter.
On September 10, 2023, she was escorted to ZRP Machipisa and filed her report, leading to the arrest Mundozo.
