A man who allegedly raped his lover’s child has been arraigned before the court.
Taurai Chikusvura, 28, of Ushewokunze in Harare, appeared before magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with rape.
The complainant in this matter is a nine-year-old juvenile.
He was ordered to apply for bail at the High Court and will appear in court on November 9 for his routine remand.
The State, through prosecutor Pardon Dziva, alleges that sometime in December 2022, the complainant was left with Chikusvura at home after her mother had visited her uncle and complainant’s elder sister aged 11 was playing outside the house with her friends.
Chikusvura allegedly called the complainant inside the house and instructed her to sleep on the bed and ordered her to remove her pant.
She asked Chikusvura why he had asked her to remove the pant and he threatened to assault her.
He then allegedly removed his shorts and raped her.
The court heard that the complainant bled as a result of the act and was given a cloth to wipe off the blood.
The other count, the State also alleges happened this year after Chikusvura had divorced with the complainant’s mother.
The complainant passed through the Chikusvura’s house and he called her into his house and allegedly raped her.
After the act Chikusvura, allegedly threatened the complainant if she told anyone about what had happened.
