A three-month-old baby girl tragically lost her life on Monday after accidentally slipping from her father’s hands.
The incident occurred during a heated dispute between the parents over misused funds.
The father, identified as Collins Tafadzwa Dzonga, 23, was carrying the infant to her mother when the accident took place.
In a statement, National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said:
“The ZRP reports a sad incident in which a three-month-old baby girl died after falling to the ground from her father, Collins Tafadzwa Dzonga’s hands. Dzonga, 23, was carrying the victim to her mother on 07/08/23.”
“Investigations revealed that the tragic accident occurred amidst a dispute between the parents regarding misused funds. The father had allegedly assaulted his wife over the allegations.
“The suspect had assaulted his wife over allegations of misusing funds,”
Meanwhile, the Police in Gokwe are on the manhunt for 25-year-old Wedzerai Wedzerai, who allegedly killed Edmond Shonhiwa, 36, over a girlfriend.
According to the police, Wedzerai struck the victim with a log.
“Police in Gokwe are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of Wedzerai Wedzerai, 25, who is being sought in connection with a case of murder in which Edmond Shonhiwa Chikomba, 36, died on 07/08/23 whilst on admission at a local hospital in Gokwe after being struck with a log at Village 19C football pitch following an argument over a girlfriend.
“Anyone with information to report at any nearest police station,” police said.
