A suspected armed robber from Epworth, who was intercepted by the police while coming from an armed robbery, has appeared in court.
Bryne Kategu, 28, of Domboramwari, Epworth, appeared before magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure at the Harare Magistrates' Courts accused of unlawful possession of a firearm.
The State, through Thomas Chanakira, alleges that around 0030 hours on April 29, Kategu and his accomplices were intercepted by detectives while driving in their Mazda MPV getaway car.
Kategu and his accomplices were coming from Shamva where they had committed an armed robbery.
There was a shootout with the police and Kategu was subdued and arrested.
A search was conducted and a 7.65 FN Browning Pistol serial was recovered.
Kategu had no firearm certificate for the pistol.
Mashavakure remanded Kategu in custody.
