Two women and a man - Brenda Mabuto, 34 of Bluffhill, Seretina Mawere, 41, of Southlea Park and Nathan Takunda Mujeye, 24, of Eastlea – appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi at the Harare Magistrates' Court charged with unlawful entry into premises in aggravating circumstances violating Section 131(1) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, Chapter 9.23.
The complainant in the matter is Ashleen Investments Pvt Ltd represented by Justin Mudyanemhandu.
The State through, Zororai Nkomo, alleges that on April, 3, 2023 at around 15:45 hours, Mudyanemhandu locked his office door and instructed Nathan Takunda Mujeye to escort him to Alliance Salvage in Msasa where he wanted to collect his personal vehicle which was being fixed.
During Mudyanemhandu's absence at around 17:45 hours, the three were working together to steal from Mudyanemhandu.
In a bid to avoid being detected on the closed circuit television footage, they gave the keys to Mudyanemhandu's office and the chubb safe key to an unknown man they knew.
The man used the keys to break and steal cash amounting to US$ 62 517 and an Hp pro-book laptop computer.
The unknown man then went away with the stolen property whilst the three were on sentry in an adjacent office.
The following day at around 0752 hours Mudyanemhandu reported for duty and discovered that his Hp pro book laptop he left on the office table was missing and his office chair was spoiled with coffee powder prompting him to do a play back on the Closed Circuit Television.
When he played it back he discovered that the unknown man was given keys by Mabuto and Mawere and went to his office, unlocked the door and entered into his office.
Whilst inside, he took a Chubb safe key from his right trousers pocket and opened the safe, and took two cashboxes of cash all amounting to US$62 517, and put them in the bag which he had brought with him.
He then went to the office table and unplugged the power socket from the Hp pro-book laptop and held it on his left hand and took coffee powder from coffee table and spilled it on the office chair and went away unnoticed.
After realising all this, Mudyanemhandu went to Harare Central to file a report.
Upon his return to the office, he found the CCTV footage had been deleted by the accused.
On April, 4, 2023 detectives from CID Stores and Business Harare attended the scene and Mabuto, Mawere and Mujeye were arrested from crime scene.
The total money that was stolen was US$63 350 and nothing was recovered.
Mangosi ordered the three to pay ZWL$300 000 as bail recognisance. He instructed them to report on Mondays and Fridays at CID Stores until the matter was finalised.
They will appear in court on May, 29, 2023 for routine remand.
