Tendai Murenzvi, 26, of Zengeza 4, Chitungwiza, on Friday appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Courts charged with unlawful possession of dangerous drugs or, alternatively, violating Section 157 (1)(a) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, Chapter 9.23.
The state through Pardon Dziva alleges that on February 28, 2023 at around 0700 hours, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics Harare were on an operation code named “Operation Harare Against Drugs,” with the theme name, "See something, say something" in Chitungwiza when they received information that Murenzvi had drugs on his person.
On the same day they went to where he lived and found him in his room.

They identified themselves and told him the reason for their visit. A search was conducted on Murenzvi and one big sachet of suspected Methylenedioxymethamphetamine was seized from his right short trousers pocket.
Further searches in the room led to the seizure of a small digital scale and empty plastic packaging from the television stand.
Murenzvi was immediately arrested and escorted to CID Drugs Harare for further investigations. Tests were done in his presence and the suspected drug tested positive to Methamphetamine.
The seized Methylenedioxymethamphetamine was weighed and ascertained approximately 4 grammes with a street value of ZWL$ 40 000 00.
Murenzvi appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi who ordered him to appear in court on March 6, 2023 for bail application.
