Stanbic Doubles Cancer Treatment Donation to US$50k

Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe has doubled its annual donation to the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe from US$25,000 to US$50,000 to support chemotherapy treatment for cancer patients.

The contribution is expected to help patients who struggle to afford essential cancer medicines, as the cost of treatment continues to place pressure on families.

Stanbic Bank Head of Brand and Marketing, Tariro Memo, said the bank was privileged to continue supporting cancer patients and their families through a partnership spanning more than a decade.

She said the bank’s support had taken different forms over the years but remained focused on easing the burden of cancer and improving access to care.

“Today, Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe is therefore pleased to continue this journey through our contribution of USD$50 000 towards Chemotherapy Drugs which is double to what we donated last year,” she said.

Memo said the impact of the donation went beyond its financial value, highlighting the difference it could make to patients and their families.

She said health and sanitation remained key areas of the bank’s corporate social investment programme.

Memo also commended CAZ for its work in cancer awareness, counselling, advocacy and patient support.

She highlighted the need to extend cancer awareness and services beyond major urban centres, particularly to rural communities where access to information, early detection and healthcare services remains a challenge.

CAZ General Manager Junior Mavu thanked the bank for increasing its contribution, saying it supported the association’s mission to promote cancer prevention and improve patients’ quality of life through timely intervention and access to cancer information and management services.

“We are especially grateful that your contribution has doubled from US$25,000 in 2025 to US$50,000 this year. This is a meaningful response to the growing cancer burden and to the rising number of patients who need our help,” Mavu said.

The increased funding reinforces the role of private-sector partnerships in helping healthcare organisations support patients who might otherwise struggle to access treatment.

Stanbic Bank said it would continue working with CAZ to support cancer care and improve access to essential services for affected communities.
