
Four men have each been sentenced to an effective 10 years in prison for stabbing a man and robbing him of US$3 200 outside Manor Hotel in Bulawayo.
Ayanda Ndebele, 27, Alex Chayambuka, 25, Justice Chayambuka, 28, and Marshall Shumba, 32, were convicted of robbery by the Bulawayo Regional Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that on July 17, 2026, at around 9pm, the complainant was outside Manor Hotel, at the corner of 8th Avenue and Lobengula Street, when the four men attacked him.
They stabbed him twice in the stomach and once at the back of the head before taking his sling bag, which contained US$3 200, a national identity card and a birth certificate.

The men fled the scene, leaving the complainant seriously injured.
He sustained two deep stab wounds to the stomach and a cut to the back of the head. He was taken by ambulance to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment.
A police report was made, leading to investigations and the subsequent arrest of the four men.
Some of the complainant’s documents were recovered, but the stolen cash was not.
The State presented evidence from the complainant, medical records detailing his injuries and testimony from the arresting officers.
The four men were remanded in custody to begin serving their sentences.
