Scotland FC’s hopes of completing a domestic treble were ended on Wednesday after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Hardrock at Rufaro Stadium in the Chibuku Super Cup quarter-finals.
Hardrock secured their place in the semi-finals through Neliswa “Tiger” Dlamini, who broke the deadlock in the 15th minute with a powerful header from a pinpoint cross by Lennox Mucheto.
Scotland, who struggled to find a way back into the match, were unable to convert their opportunities as Hardrock held firm to protect their slender advantage until the final whistle.
The result ended Scotland’s hopes of adding the Chibuku Super Cup to their growing list of domestic ambitions. They remain in contention for the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League championship and the inaugural Munhumutapa Challenge Cup, while also preparing for the second stage of their CAF Champions League campaign.
Hardrock’s victory completes the Chibuku Super Cup semi-final line-up, with Highlanders, CAPS United and FC Hunters also advancing to the last four.
Scotland coach Mapeza admitted that his side were slow out of the blocks but felt they created enough opportunities to get back into the contest.

“In the first few minutes, we didn't start that well. We struggled a bit. I think that was the time when we were so prepared to go. We looked at the situation. But I think after that, we had some decent opportunities,” said Mapeza.
He also acknowledged the challenges posed by the team’s recent schedule and preparations.
“It’s not easy, especially a team which was just with the training past seven, eight days. It doesn’t mean to be easy.”
Despite the disappointment, Mapeza said the team must quickly turn their attention to their remaining competitions.
“We have to accept the result. Like now, we have to sit more focused on the next game,” he said.
The defeat leaves Scotland with two domestic trophies still within reach as they shift their focus to the Premier Soccer League title race and the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup, alongside their continental ambitions in the CAF Champions League.
