A Zimbabwean master of ceremonies has hosted a destination wedding for a Belgian couple in Livingstone, Zambia, highlighting the growing demand for Southern African creative talent in the region's booming destination wedding industry.
Kalenga K-Plus Chambatu was selected to host the wedding after the couple's planner recommended him to officiate the proceedings for an all-Belgian guest list of 80 people.
The wedding took place on the banks of the Zambezi River near Victoria Falls in Livingstone, with guests travelling from Belgium to celebrate the occasion.
According to Kalenga, he spent several days with the couple before the ceremony to understand their expectations and ensure the programme reflected their vision.

"That's how they flew me to the tourist capital, where I stayed for a few days ahead of the wedding. We first went through their vision and how they wanted their wedding to unfold," he said.
He said the event was a success, with all 80 guests experiencing Southern Africa for the first time.
"The wedding day itself was a huge success. Eighty wedding guests were visiting our region for the first time. Fun was had by all," he said.
The assignment reflects the growing role of Southern African destinations such as the Victoria Falls region in attracting international weddings, creating opportunities not only for hotels and tour operators but also for local event professionals, including photographers, planners, musicians, decorators and masters of ceremonies.
For local creatives, destination weddings are increasingly becoming a gateway to international exposure, as referrals and successful events continue to open opportunities beyond national borders.
