Ngarava to captain Zimbabwe in Bangladesh ODIs

Zimbabwe  named fast bowler Richard Ngarava as captain for the upcoming three match One-Day International series against Bangladesh, marking the first time he will lead the national side in the 50-over format.

The series, which begins on July 6 in Harare, marks the start of a new chapter for the Chevrons as Ngarava takes charge with the backing of experienced campaigners Craig Ervine and Sikandar Raza. Zimbabwe Cricket has also announced a 15-player squad featuring a blend of seasoned internationals and emerging talent.

One of the biggest talking points is the return of Innocent Kaia, who earned a recall following an impressive Test series in which he scored his maiden century. He joins Ben Curran and Brian Bennett in Zimbabwe's top-order batting unit.

Zimbabwe's bowling attack will be spearheaded by Ngarava alongside Blessing Muzarabani, Brad Evans, Newman Nyamhuri and Ernest Masuku, while Ryan Burl, Wessly Madhevere and Wellington Masakadza provide the spin options. Tadiwanashe Marumani and Clive Madande have been retained as the team's wicketkeepers.

The hosts return to ODI cricket for the first time since August last year, when they suffered a 2-0 home series defeat to Sri Lanka. However, Zimbabwe head into the Bangladesh contest full of confidence after a commanding Test victory, hoping to carry that momentum into the 50-over format on home soil.
