
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed the arrest of a 28-year-old Harare man in connection with the murder of Brian Nandana in a case that has shocked residents across the capital.
In a statement issued on May 21, 2026, police identified the suspect as Shepherd Severa, who was arrested following investigations into the killing which occurred in Warren Park D, Harare.
According to police, the breakthrough came after officers recovered a blood-stained Toyota Aqua, registration number AGO 2804, at Warren Hills Cemetery in the early hours of May 19.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Shepherd Severa (28) in connection with a case of murder which occurred in Warren Park D, Harare in which Brian Nandana was killed,” read part of the police statement.
Police said investigations later led detectives to the suspect, who allegedly confessed to the gruesome killing.

Authorities added that the suspect later directed investigators to a shallow grave at Warren Hills Cemetery where Nandana’s body was recovered.
“The suspect led the police to a shallow grave at Warren Hills Cemetery where the victim’s body was retrieved with a deep cut on the neck and a scar on the back of the head,” the statement added.
The case has sparked outrage and horror on social media, with many Zimbabweans expressing grief and disbelief over the nature of the alleged crime.
Police said investigations into the full circumstances surrounding the murder are still ongoing.
“Investigations into the full circumstances surrounding the murder case are in progress. More details will be released in due course,” said Commissioner P. Nyathi, Chief Staff Officer for Press and Public Relations to the Commissioner-General of Police.
