A Harare man employed by the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services appeared in court this week for allegedly siphoning more than US$132,000 from a ZPCS projects account through unauthorised transfers to private bank accounts over a 12-day period.
Canisius Kadyamusuma, 42, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing fraud charges.
He is accused of acting in concert with Parish Mushimbo, who is already on remand for the same offence, and Cornelius Madzinga, who remains at large.
The State alleges that the offence occurred between June 12 and June 23 at the ZPCS Harare Remand Board Management.

Prosecutors told the court that during the period in question, Kadyamusuma, allegedly acting together with Mushimbo and Madzinga, made unauthorised transfers from the ZPCS Projects account into individual bank accounts that had not been approved.
The court heard that after the transfers were made, Kadyamusuma allegedly followed up on the transactions and withdrew the funds.
The State further alleges that the accused persons shared the withdrawn money among themselves.
ZPCS was allegedly prejudiced of US$132,408.77 as a result of the scheme.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
