A 37-year-old Harare man has appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Court facing attempted murder charges following a shooting incident that allegedly unfolded at Kuwadzana 6 Shops last month.
Simbarashe Mhute, a resident of Westgate, is accused of firing shots at a man who had attempted to calm a dispute between him and bar security personnel.
Prosecutor Blessed Songozo told the court that the incident occurred on March 16, 2026, when Mhute was socialising with friends and other patrons at Kuwadzana 6 Shops.

According to the State, a misunderstanding allegedly arose between Mhute and bar bouncers, prompting the complainant to intervene after Mhute reportedly retrieved a pistol from his vehicle.
The court heard that Mhute initially drove away from the scene but later made a U-turn and returned to the area. The complainant, who followed in a separate vehicle, allegedly flagged him down in an attempt to defuse the situation.
It is alleged that as the complainant stepped out of his car, Mhute shouted at him, pointed the firearm and fired two shots, which missed their intended target. Mhute allegedly fled the scene immediately afterward.
Mhute is expected to return to court on April 17 as proceedings continue.
