Zimbabwe, UAE Push Three-Month CEPA

Zimbabwe and the United Arab Emirates have taken a further step toward formalising a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) following high-level talks held in Dubai.

The discussions brought together Professor Amon Murwira and Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as both sides worked on the scope and direction of the proposed agreement.

The two countries agreed to conclude the CEPA within three months, signalling momentum in efforts to strengthen bilateral economic relations.

The agreement is expected to cover key areas of cooperation, including agriculture, mining, energy and infrastructure development, sectors viewed as central to trade and investment flows between Zimbabwe and the UAE.

Murwira said the proposed framework is aimed at expanding economic collaboration.

“The CEPA is expected to support investment inflows, job creation and sustainable economic development through increased collaboration and technology transfer,” he said.

Sheikh Shakhboot said the agreement would also serve the UAE’s broader economic objectives.

“The partnership will expand access to new markets and resources while supporting trade diversification, food security and energy security,” he said.
