FC Platinum have parted ways with head coach Joel Luphahla by mutual agreement, ending his tenure after a difficult run of results for the four-time Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League champions.
The club announced the decision in a statement, confirming that South African coach Thabo Senong has been appointed as the new head coach, subject to the completion of contractual and registration formalities. In the meantime, Moses Mwafulirwa and Alexio Sigion will oversee the team's training and preparations.
"We would like to express our gratitude to Coach Luphahla and his team for their dedication, hard work and contributions to the club, and we wish them continued success in their future endeavours," FC Platinum said in the statement.
Luphahla took charge of FC Platinum at the start of the 2026 season following Norman Mapeza's departure. He inherited a squad in transition after several experienced players left the club and was tasked with rebuilding a side capable of challenging for honours.

His tenure, however, proved challenging. FC Platinum struggled for consistency, winning just one of their opening nine league matches, leaving the club well below expectations and prompting mounting pressure from supporters. The poor run was among the club's worst since earning promotion to the Premier Soccer League.
Despite the disappointing results, Luphahla remained accountable, repeatedly accepting responsibility for the team's performances and expressing confidence that results would improve.
The club believes Senong's arrival marks the beginning of a new chapter as it seeks to revive its campaign.
"We extend a warm welcome to Coach Senong as he joins the FC Platinum family, and we look forward to an exciting new chapter under his leadership," the club added.
Senong is expected to officially assume his duties once contractual and registration formalities have been been completed, with FC Platinum hoping his experience will help restore the club's status as one of Zimbabwe's leading football clubs.
