
The Arts Journalists Association of Zimbabwe has warmly welcomed the appointment of Farai Chimba as the new Board Chairman of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, describing the move as a timely boost for the country’s tourism and hospitality sector.
Over the years, Chimba has built a strong working relationship with arts and tourism journalists, consistently availing accurate, timely and insightful information that has helped shape informed reporting on Zimbabwe’s tourism landscape.
His appointment is being viewed as a vote of confidence in a seasoned professional whose passion and strategic insight have long contributed to promoting Zimbabwe as a premier destination.

Commenting on the development, AJAZ Secretary General Zandile Zaza Ndlovu said the association was optimistic about the future of the sector under Chimba’s leadership.
“Farai Chimba has consistently demonstrated professionalism, accessibility and a genuine commitment to the growth of Zimbabwe’s tourism industry. Our members have benefited immensely from his openness and willingness to engage the media. His appointment as Board Chairman is well deserved, and we are confident he will continue to propel the sector to greater heights,” Ndlovu said.
She added that Chimba’s appointment comes at a crucial time when tourism remains a key driver of economic growth, cultural exchange and international engagement for Zimbabwe.
“We look forward to a tenure marked by innovation, transparency and strong collaboration with stakeholders, including the media, under the leadership of the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Barbara Rwodzi,” Ndlovu noted.
