Tourism operators across Zimbabwe face closure if they fail to regularise their facilities before the end of February, as the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority intensifies enforcement of mandatory registration requirements.
ZTA stated that 28 February 2026 is the deadline for all designated tourism facilities to complete registration, warning that nationwide inspections will commence from 1 March 2026.
“Failure to register will result in the closure of unregistered facilities,” ZTA said.

The authority stated that the compliance exercise is being undertaken in terms of Section 36 of the Tourism Act , which makes registration with the regulator a statutory requirement for all tourism-related businesses.
ZTA said it will conduct inspections across all provinces in collaboration with law enforcement agencies to verify registration status and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
ZTA said the Government has significantly reduced licence and registration fees across categories as part of efforts to improve the ease of doing business and promote a competitive, compliant and sustainable tourism sector.
The authority also stated that members of the public are strongly discouraged from utilising unregistered tourism facilities, urging consumers to prioritise legally compliant operators as Zimbabwe strengthens oversight of the sector.
