Simon Mazorodze Flyover mugger in court

 

A 32-year-old man has appeared in the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing robbery charges following an alleged mugging near the Simon Mazorodze Flyover.

Raymond Karipache is accused of taking part in a robbery that occurred on October 26 around 6 p.m., when the complainant was waiting for transport to Mufakose and was ambushed by a group of 10 men.

According to court proceedings, Karipache, together with nine others who remain at large, allegedly surrounded the complainant, with one of the men demanding that he hand over all his belongings.

The gang reportedly stole an Itel CA70 mobile phone, a birth certificate, a satchel, a wallet, US$30 in cash, and clothing. After the robbery, the group is said to have attacked other individuals in the area.

A police report was filed, and Karipache was later arrested after the complainant positively identified him. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at US$120, and none of it has been recovered.

Karipache is expected back in court on October 29, 2025.
