
A DNC Bus travelling from Port Elizabeth to Harare was involved in a fatal accident near Louis Trichardt on the N1 highway yesterday, leaving at least 40 dead and several others injured.
Some Zimbabwean families have confirmed to Zim Now that they have confirmed the deaths of members while others say they are still waiting for word.
Authorities have so far confirmed over 40 fatalities, though the death toll is expected to rise as emergency teams continue to assess the situation.

As a result of the crash, the N1 highway has been closed in both directions, causing significant traffic disruptions. Motorists travelling between Musina and Louis Trichardt have been advised to use Witvlag and Williespoort roads as alternative routes.
According to initial reports, the bus — which was carrying mostly Zimbabwean and Malawian nationals — crashed along the N1, resulting in a devastating scene. Authorities confirm that the driver and several passengers died on the spot, while others were rushed to nearby hospitals with varying degrees of injuries.
Emergency services and law enforcement officers were called to the scene, and recovery operations continued into the night. The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, though eyewitnesses described it as one of the worst road accidents in the area in recent years.
Local hospitals in the Limpopo province are attending to survivors, and efforts are underway to identify the deceased and notify their families.
