ZETDC Boss suspended After Power Outage Halts Mnangagwa’s Speech

 

The Managing Director of the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), Abel Gurupira, has been dismissed with immediate effect following a major power outage that disrupted President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s State of the Nation Address in Parliament.

According to   sources within the Ministry of Energy, Minister July Moyo personally ordered Gurupira’s removal and instructed ZESA Group CEO Cletus Nyachowe to implement the decision without delay. An internal probe has since been launched to determine the exact cause of the outage.

The event has since become a lightning rod for public frustration, with many Zimbabweans viewing it as a symbolic reflection of the country’s deteriorating infrastructure and governance.
