The Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Health and Child Care has commenced a nationwide verification exercise to assess conditions in rural health facilities, starting with Inyathi District Hospital in Bubi District, Matabeleland North Province.
The committee, chaired by Dr. Thokozani Khupe and led during the visit by Daniel Molokele, is evaluating the availability of essential medicines, medical equipment, and infrastructure at primary healthcare centres, including maternal and natal wards.

During the inspection at Inyathi District Hospital, committee members assessed the hospital’s equipment, drug stocks, and overall infrastructure. They commended the hospital’s management for maintaining high levels of cleanliness and well-kept facilities.
The hospital recently acquired new X-ray and dental care equipment, a development the committee described as a positive step toward improving service delivery. However, MPs noted that some of the existing machinery is outdated and requires urgent repair or replacement.
Hospital authorities appealed to the government for additional financial support to address these challenges and enhance operational efficiency.
