A 48-year-old teacher has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old Grade 4 pupil during extra lessons in Hopley.
Collen Banda, who resides in Hopley Zone 4, is accused of threatening the child and raping her when they were alone in the classroom.
The incident came to light after the victim reported it to authorities, resulting in Banda’s arrest.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case, stating that the pupil had been taken to MSF Edith Clinic in Mbare for medical examination.
“Police are actively investigating this rape case involving a Grade 4 pupil during private lessons,” Insp Chakanza said.
Investigations are ongoing.
