A 24-year-old Tafara man has appeared in court after he was allegedly found in possession of 64 explosive cartridges and fuses without a permit at his tuckshop in Harare.
Willard Taimu, 24, of Old Tafara, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing charges of contravening the Explosives Act.
The court heard that on October 2, 2026, at around 1.05pm, detectives from the CID Minerals, Flora and Fauna Unit in Harare were deployed to the Mabvuku and Tafara areas under an operation code-named Operation Thunder, aimed at curbing illegal activities involving minerals, flora and fauna, including explosives.
It is alleged that while on deployment, the detectives received information that Taimu was in possession of explosives at his tuckshop at Tafara Shopping Centre in Harare.
