The Zimbabwe National Water Authority has advised its clients and stakeholders to be on the lookout and ignore emails from unknown individuals suspected to be harbouring criminal motives.
This comes after some individuals sent emails to ZINWA clients announcing that their ZINWA accounts would be closed.
In a statement, the ZINWA Corporate Communications and Marketing Department said no ZINWA account is on the verge of being closed.
“It has come to our attention that there are some individuals sending emails to ZINWA clients purporting that ZINWA accounts are on the verge of being closed and directing the clients to make payments into bank accounts provided in the emails.
“ZINWA wishes to inform its clients and stakeholders that at no point; had its accounts closed or threatened with closure. Individuals sending out those emails are not ZINWA representatives and may harbour criminal intentions,” reads the statement.
ZINWA urged its clients to continue making payments into ZINWA accounts they have been using and ignore the emails emanating from these unknown individuals.
It also said when in doubt, clients are advised to contact their respective ZINWA Service Centre personnel or the Call Centre on its WhatsApp number 077467433, or alternatively report to the police.
