Seven men appeared in court facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm amid allegations linking them to a spate of robberies committed with a .38 Rossi Special Revolver.
The accused — Day Kaseke ,31, Lucky Mhungu ,43, Webster Dodzo ,40, Simon Chihungwa ,36, Dzingai Gariyawo ,40, and Tafadzwa Chayambuka , 32, — were remanded in custody when they appeared before the Harare Magistrate’s Courts.
They are scheduled to return on September 3, 2025, for a bail hearing.
Prosecutors told the court that the case stems from the arrest of Taurai Dodzo on July 25 by CID Homicide Harare detectives at Besa Primary School turn-off in Besa Village, Chief Seke, Dema.
He was wanted in connection with five counts of robbery.
During questioning, Dodzo allegedly led detectives to Edmond Keke’s house in Mangwende Village, Chief Seke, where police recovered a .38 Rossi Special Revolver with serial number AA756409 and 10 live cartridges.
Dodzo is said to have implicated his six co-accused in a series of robberies carried out using the recovered firearm, leading to their arrest.
