Another foreign national arrested over theft from car at Greenfields

Detectives from the Zimbabwe Republic Police have arrested Lama Gabriel Gabi, 40, a foreign national, in connection with a high-value theft from a motor vehicle.

The arrest comes just days after another foreign national, Cassian Pascal Mangombe, appeared in court facing charges of stealing laptops and fuel coupons from parked vehicles at several Harare shopping centers.

According to police, Gabi’s case arises from a theft that occurred on May 14, 2025, at Greenfield Shopping Centre in Harare. The complainant had parked his Toyota Hilux when the suspect allegedly broke into the vehicle and stole US$16 000 cash.

On August 30, 2025, detectives acting on a tip-off moved in and arrested Gabi. A search led to the recovery of a destabilizer remote control and three car keys, one of which belonged to a Honda Accent.

Police say further details will be released as investigations continue.
