Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has responded to criticism from former Sports minister David Coltart, accusing him of targeting the board's "black administrators with baseless accusations lacking any credible evidence." The criticism comes after Zimbabwe's poor performance in a recent Test series against New Zealand, which ended in a 2-0 whitewash and a historic innings and 359-run defeat.

Coltart expressed his disappointment with the team's performance, calling for a "complete rethink" in Zimbabwean cricket. However, ZC hit back, saying Coltart's comments were a "thinly-veiled attempt to sow divisions and undermine the progress ZC has made."

The cricket board accused Coltart of making unsubstantiated claims of racism and politicizing cricket during his time as minister. ZC pointed to its compliance with the ICC Anti-Discrimination Code and its efforts to transform the sport since independence.

However, critics accused ZC of failing to address concerns raised by Coltart and playing the "race card." Many questioned the board's priorities and accountability, with some calling for responses to allegations of maladministration and conflict of interest within the ZC structures
